Elisha Halsey Memorial

An anchor is an ancient symbol that became a Christian symbol of hope and faith in salvation.
It also often reflects a maritime occupation of the deceased. This is particularly common in St James' Cemetery because of Liverpool's position as a port city.

This is the memorial dedicated to Captain Elisha Halsey, who was murdered at sea in 1844.
