Flowers
Flowers are symbols of remembrance and are particularly common from the mid-19th century.
Acorn: Acorns are the seeds of oak trees and can therefore symbolise potential, growth, and fertility.
Ivy: Ivy symbolises friendship. As an evergreen and a resilient plant it also represents immortality and eternity.
Oak: The oak symbolises longevity, maturity, and strength. Oak and ivy can be found together on the grave of a married couple.
Rose: A rose often symbolises purity.
Willow tree: The weeping willow tree is a symbol of mourning and grief.
Wreath: The wreath is a traditional symbol of mourning and commemoration.
It is also a symbol of victory and in Christian belief represents the victory of the redemption of man.
